Fresh Face Routine... Once or Twice Daily!

Let’s face it, a lot of us are not born with great skin but we can achieve great glowing skin by building a skin care routine that will definitely work great and show amazing results.

Right now, you’re probably saying; “what I see in the mirror, doesn’t match how I feel on the inside.” Um, so why not change that? Here’s how. First, you need to learn more about your skin. What works and what doesn’t work well with your skin. For starters: have a consultation with your dermatologist. This will actually benefit you on making better product choices — and will save you hundreds if not thousands.

So now you’ve had a talk with your dermatologist and feeling like you’re now one with your skin — and know what to look for when purchasing skincare products.

Remember, there are a dizzying number of opinions from how to moisturize to how to protect yourself from UV-rays. Ultimately, just caring for your skin is personal and you should always make time.

THREE MAIN STEPS:

1) Wash your face — Washing your face with room temperature (not cold nor warm) water will help to keep your face clean. Just pat dry to avoid dryness.

NOTE: Typically, the fewer ingredients a product has, the easier it is to determine if it will cause any skin reactions.

2) Toning — Balancing your skin-tone and allowing it to breathe is a must.

NOTE: Apply toner with clean hands or if you prefer, you can use a cotton pad. Most toners can be used in the morning and/or night, but you might want to use exfoliating acids only at bedtime.

3) Moisturizer — Keeping your skin hydrated will have your skin glowing and feeling soft to the touch.

NOTE: If you’re battling with dark spots, replace your moisturizer with Vitamin C to help brighten dull skin and decrease dark spots with continued use.

The goal of any skin-care routine is to increase the look of ones complexion, so it’s functioning at its best. “Beauty routines are an opportunity to notice changes within yourself,” says San Francisco’s skin-care specialist, Kristina Holey. As your skin needs shifts with age, so will your products. Still, she adds, “it’s not about creating perfection.”   If you allow these steps to become your daily ritual, then you will reap the benefits over time.

JUST GIVE IT TIME…

Over the last six years, skin-care products has come a long way but there’s still no such thing as an instant fix,” says Manhattan dermatologist, Dr. Rachel Nazarian. “Results are only seen through consistent use,” she concluded.
