SPLIT! Crystal Smith Her Breaks Silence, Plans to Divorce Ne-Yo!

Ne-Yo and his soon-to-be estranged wife, Crystal Smith, are headed for DIVORCE!

After calling off his engagement to Monyetta Shaw in 2013, Ne-Yo, also known as Shaffer Smith, thought he had found love again in the arms of Crystal months later and in fact the couple got married shortly thereafter.

Now, Ne-Yo and Crystal are said to be planning to sign divorce papers after nearly 4 years of marriage and for the first time [Crystal] is breaking her silence.

Crystal had nothing but positive things to say about her estranged husband and called the split, “God’s will”. During her sit down with BallerAlert, Crystal said that [Ne-Yo] “is an amazing father” and their “kids are blessed to have a father like him.” She added, “I wouldn’t take that back for anything in this world.”

In addition to the public’s rousing opinions about his ex, Monyetta, tying her tubes per his request prior to him leaving her, the R&B singer has been and still is plagued with rumors, especially since solidifying his relationship with Crystal. Renay, born Crystal Renay Williams on September 18, 1989, moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in modeling and reportedly met Ne-Yo when she was cast to appear in a music video. They quickly struck up a relationship, and they got tattoos to commemorate their love within a few weeks.

“I initially met Crystal on what initially was supposed to be a music video,” he recalled to Vibe. “I wanted to shoot a little video for the album I was putting out at the time. I was going to cast her, but in the process of us talking and getting to know each other, there was a click, there was a connection.”

Renay told Heightline that they were in a hotel room together when Ne-Yo popped the question. He did not have a ring with him at the time. They were eventually wed on February 20, 2016.

Prior to marrying Renay, Ne-Yo was engaged to long-term girlfriend Monyetta. They met at a concert in 2010 and got engaged three years later. “He asked me out several times before I said yes and then I fell for him fast,” Shaw recalled. “He had such a good heart, and that’s what attracted me to him.” The former couple eventually called off their wedding in August 2013.
